Privacy Policy

The short version: your words are saved to your account, so you can never lose them. Your audio is never stored — and we never sell your data.

Our approach

talk2bud draws one clear line: your words are precious, your audio is disposable. Everything you produce by voice — transcripts, notes, summaries, chats with your Bud — is saved to your account and synced, so a lost, wiped or replaced Mac never costs you your library. The audio itself is never stored on our servers, and is automatically deleted from your Mac 3 days after transcription.

We do not sell your personal data. There is no advertising and there are no third-party ad trackers in talk2bud.

Where your data lives

This is the heart of how talk2bud works. Here is the honest split.

In your account — synced & safe

  • Your transcripts and call history
  • Your notes and summaries
  • Your chats with your Bud
  • Your custom dictionary and your ghost's name

Encrypted in transit and at rest. Kept locally on your Mac too, so everything works offline — but the copy that counts lives in your account: reinstall, sign in, and your library is back.

What we store on our servers

  • Your account email
  • Your subscription and plan state
  • Usage metrics (call durations, request counts)
  • Optional qualification answers (role, company, use-case)
  • Your entitlements and skins
  • A shared call transcript — only if you share it to a team Channel (Enterprise)

What we never store: your audio (processed transiently, gone from your Mac after 3 days) and your card details (those live with Stripe, never with us).

In short: your words live in your account, so you can never lose them. Your audio is never kept — anywhere — beyond 3 days on your own Mac.

How audio is processed

To produce transcription and answers, audio is streamed transiently to our AI subprocessors. We do not retain that audioas audio on our servers — and on your Mac it is deleted automatically 3 days after transcription. Once transcribed, the words are the record; the recording itself evaporates.

Subprocessors

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the service:

  • OpenAI — transcription and AI. API data is not used to train their models.
  • Stripe — payments. Card data never touches our servers.
  • Supabase— accounts, database, and authentication.
  • Resend— email.
  • Vercel— website hosting.

Team Channels (Enterprise)

A call transcript only leaves your Mac for our servers when you deliberately share it to a team Channel. In that case, the shared transcript is stored server-side so your team can see it. This is an Enterprise feature and always begins with a choice you make.

How we use your data

We use the data we store to run your account, provide and improve the service, handle billing, and support you.

Account emails are transactional— things like receipts, trial reminders, and service notices. We only send you marketing with your consent.

Security

Your session is stored in the macOS Keychain, scoped to this device only. Data in transit is protected with TLS encryption.

Your rights & choices

You can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or portabilityof your personal data — the rights provided under laws such as the GDPR and CCPA.

To make a data deletion or rights request, email contact@talk2bud.com. We act on requests within 30 days. You can also remove the data on your Mac at any time by deleting the app and its data.

Data retention

We keep your library and the account data described above for the life of your account and for as long as we are legally required to. Ask us to delete your account and your library goes with it. Audio never outlives the 3-day window on your Mac.

Children

talk2bud is for adults. You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live) to use it, and it is not directed at children under 13.

Changes & contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above.
